ANDREW BLAKEMORE - An Acorn Lies Within The Snow

2014-11-07 6

Beneath this oak with branches strong
Where birds once filled each morn with song,
Through winter spring and summer fall
Their graceful tunes did softly call,
We saw the buds and then the leaves
But now for us December grieves,
For love that died so long ago,
An acorn lies within the snow.

Through summer in its restful shade
So many promises we made,
That we would stay forever one
But now all hope of joy has gone,
With passing days when skies so blue
When flowers bloomed for me and you,
As icy chill of winds now blow
An acorn lies within the snow.

When autumn came this oak stood bare
No longer did we linger there,
The circle of our love complete
Had turned so sour no longer sweet,
No feeling left within our heart
We sadly drifted far apart,
Now all alone as tears do flow
An acorn lies within the snow
