I push my window open wide
The sounds of morning drift inside,
I hear the dove
High up above
Calling for a friend,
Blackbird singing from the bowers
Perfume of the blooming flowers,
Does fill the air
The day so fair
Its beauty without end.
With my window open wide
Such happiness I feel inside,
The day so still
It does fulfil
Desire in my heart,
The butterflies and bumblebees
The sound of blue tits in the trees,
The day so free
They sing for me,
Such joy it does impart.
I close my window as the day
Slowly fades then drifts away,
The sun does sleep
While embers deep
Light the evening sky,
Then the twilight falls so fast
Stars do shine when evening's passed,
My curtains drawn
Until the dawn
So peacefully I lie.
