'Let us pause in life’s pleasures and count its many tears'
While we look back to the days of yore
'There’s a voice that will linger, forever in our ears
Oh Hard times, come again no more'
'There’s a song, a sigh o’ the miners
Hard times, hard times, come again no more'
Many lives were lost a-digging the black, black ore
Oh Hard times, come again no more
Well we all stood together when we went out on strike
When they closed down the mines in ‘84
Maggie and her cronies said “Get on yer bike”
Oh Hard times, come again no more
We’d hunger in our bellies and our backs to the wall
We were weary, weary to the core
They spent millions to break us, the madness of it all!
Oh Hard times, come again no more
We stood up for our right to earn a day’s pay
To help keet the wolf from the door
Though our voices are silent now, history shall say
Oh Hard times, come again no more
There’s a song, a sigh o’ the miners
Hard times, hard times, come again no more
Many lives were lost a-digging the black black ore
Oh Hard times, come again no more
