ANDREW BLAKEMORE - A Garland of Flowers

2014-11-07 3

A garland of flowers I carried for you,
To place on the grave where you always shall lie,
There under the shade of that old twisted yew,
So peaceful and calm and I try not to cry.

I look at the headstone that's so hard to read,
The letters have faded and been worn away,
Yet I do remember they're etched in my heart,
And I could recite every word it does say.

I stay and I talk of the time that has passed,
Of things that have happened and things I have done,
I feel you are with me the touch of your hand,
Caresses my soul like the warmth of the sun.

I blow you a kiss now and bid you farewell,
Yet I will return on the same day next year,
Again I will carry a garland of flowers,
I'll never forget you my love and my dear.
