priyanka choudhury - Tweedle Dum And Tweedle Dee- One MBA The Other PhD

2014-11-07 19

Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee
See what a fine pair they make
‘U do an MBA’, says Tweedle Dum to Tweedle Dee
‘While I the PhD route take’
Now Tweedle Dee is an MBA, with all his fundas wrong;
Tweedle Dum frowns; he’s analyzing the enlightened throng.

Tweedle Dee earns in dollars evergreen I say
While Tweedle Dum dances his fingers, ‘I never want money- nay! ’
As months flow by Tweedle Dee gets married and flies abroad
Seeing this Mr Dum chucks his thesis and takes the corporate road

And all his fundas of research Tweedle Dum brings to office
Taken aback, his colleagues shout, ‘keep that away, no please’
Poor Mr Dum, like rasmalai in rum, was at a loss to understand
Why his research, full of insight, on the corporate table looked bland

Now Tweedle Dee, when he hears of Dum’s plight,
runs to him to help; gets him a job, buys him a tie
Takes his one ton thesis and puts it out of sight.

Tweedle Dum now pulls his hair and fiddles with his tie,
looks at the fundu management honchos and says, ‘pity, fie’
No matter however much he fied, he got nimbly about his job
The last Tweedle Dee had heard of Dum, he had joined the B- school mob.

P.S. This rambling poem has been inspired by a friend of mine who’s a PhD scholar and has joined the corporate world, because to put it in his words, ‘The power structures are moving towards privatization’. I wish him, and all others who take time to adjust their sensibilities in this insensible world, the best of luck.
