Ted Sheridan - I Don't Do Weddings, Funerals Or Reunions Because Someone Always Dies

2014-11-07 8

I don't do or go to funerals...
weddings or reunions of any kind...
I refuse to accept the misplaced guilt for not being nice
before.... when the dead were still among the living...
or for not telling the bride or groom
they were making a mistake about the other one....
or seeing the people who you didn't like then
or the people you knew didn't like you....
and now you both pretend you were best of friends...
To me I would rather stay home and miss the gossip
chow down on some of my wife's left over potato salad
with some broiled Catfish and asparagus spears
And wait for my wife to return and filter the details
Give me the head's up on what or WHO went down...
She nearly always tells me horror stories mixed with fairy tales
and then kisses me in an understanding way
telling me she will be taking my position the next time...
Though she never does...
and this is why I love her with all the love I have...
Because no one should be as cynical as I am___
