It started many years ago
My love affair with words
From comics to the classics on the shelf -
The power of the written word
Could set my spirit free
Could take me on a voyage by myself;
While sitting in the comfort of
My favorite easy chair
I've traveled to the corners of the earth -
And sometimes far beyond that
To horizons yet unknown
I've contemplated miracles of birth;
Yes, I have been a reader
And a writer of these words
For many hours they've occupied my mind -
How could I live without them?
They're the nourishment I crave
A better lover would be hard to find;
So on this sweet occasion
As I celebrate this goal
Two hundred poems have tumbled from my pen -
I hope to write two hundred more
Before my thoughts run dry......................
And then I'll start all over once again.
