Linda Ori - Precious Life

That tiny child who stole your heart
The day that he was born,
Encompassed all the hopes and dreams
God blessed him with that morn';

You nurtured and protected him
In every way you should
From bullies and from viruses
Like any parent would;

Through painful adolescence,
Through confusion, hurt and tears,
You comforted and loved him
As the days turned into years;

And then in time you gave him up,
You turned him loose one day
With absolute potential
To succeed in every way;

Then just as life was smiling
On this gifted child you raised,
His brilliant future ended
In a moment wild and crazed;

Complete annihilation
Of this truly precious soul
Has left you torn and bleeding
With no way to mend this hole

That oozes such deep sorrow
From the chambers of your heart
Your life will never be the same -
Your dreams are torn apart;

Such sorrow can't be measured,
Your tears will fall like rain,
They'll drown you in a river
Of pure agony and pain;

This child that once you nurtured
In the closeness of your womb,
Lies still and cold and lifeless
In the confines of a tomb.
