What is it that peels in strips
But inside you cannot find any pips.
What is it that is yellow or green
But not leaves; that’s not what I mean.
What is it that is often seen
With its bunch of friends between.
What is it that’s the butt of jokes
And even sometimes used in a hoax.
What is it that is long, not fat
And never wears a peaked cap.
What is it that’s a slippery thing
Often empty, just a skin.
Do you think it is Tom, or was it Dick
Who you met with down at the Gym
Ohh no! You are so wrong!
It’s just a banana that you slipped on.
When you were rushing to meet Sally
And had not yet found Harry
Hoping that he will be the one.
