The blitz build of 1997
10th anniversary-June
Happily they came from far and near and all around to
Answer the call of the blitz build of 1997
Motivated to give their time and talent doing what they could
Making houses for 52 families who had none to call their own
Each according to his or her abilities while
Reaching out to strangers, neighbors, and friends all working
In the mountains and eastern hills of Kentucky and Tennessee
New homes in neighborhoods where children will be playing
Games and joining hands in circles of friendliness, most descendants of
Immigrants from many distant lands, some not so long ago,
Now enjoying the basic rights of liberty, life, and the pursuit of happiness which
This country, whose values are often endangered but never lost we
Hope, for which fighting and marching in the streets are needed at times, to
Ensure the formation of new communities with opportunities
Helping neighbors and friends join strangers working together
In building houses for houseless families throughout this and foreign
Lands where there’s a need and opportunity to
Lift windows and open doors to new worlds to
Shelter those who need to find a Habitat Humanity.
