Summer Sandercox - How Do You Stop Hurting?

2014-11-07 6

How do you stop reliving a moment,
that happened ten years ago.
Scars you've hid for so long,
now they're starting to show.

How do you stop the burning inside,
hide bruises that won't go away
If you know the nightmare will return,
at the end of every day.

How do you stop from falling asleep,
just 'cause you're afraid of the dark.
When you still hear his horrid voice,
with the loud pounding of your heart.

How do you stop feeling his touch,
and erase his trace off your skin.
Can you rid the trail of his fingers,
using your body for his sin.

How do you stop screaming at night,
hear him tapping on your window sill.
But just like many years ago,
nobody can hear you're crying still.

How do you stop the memory,
if for so long it's followed you.
Smelling, at times, his drunken breath,
even your mind tells you it's true.

How do you stop crying and bleeding,
same blood and tears from years before.
When you feel his rugged, cold hands,
still pinning you against the floor.

How do you stop all the pain,
the same pain you felt back then.
If in your mind you're being raped,
over and over again.
