Michelle Tiddy - Old Forbidden Love

2014-11-07 4

I see you across a crowded room
My heart flutters, my cheeks flush
Everthing becomes sharper in my view
But I see, only you

The noise around me is deafening
I turn my back, can't afford to look
If I only stay away, Please dear God!
It never truly works....

We are drawn magnetically together
Slowly skirting the room until
We are standing next to each other
But not looking, not listening

Laughing at someone else's jokes
Content to breathe the same air
Electricity plucking at the hairs
On our neck, until we can't help it

We brush together innocently
And the lightening strikes again
We carefully look into one another's eyes
Fleetingly lost in the depths

Then we move away, too scary..
To be close like that, without..
Being able to hold and feel
And jump on the ferris wheel

The dance of the cobra never ends
Your venom seeps through my blood
A dangerous rythm of ecstasy
This forbidden, consuming love

We were never meant to be
We lost the chance years ago
Not brave enough to test the waters
We will always yearn for what could have been

Decades pass and the passion cools
Separation is a gracious tool
No more contact, no more games
Until, you showed up again

You walked into the room
And like a fool, my spirit soared
When finally we spoke
The years melted away

But this time I had the power
You were lost, for words
You scrambled over pleasantries
Whilst I soaked the memories in

Good to know I still have
This affect on you, this
Wild and sad strength
You left and walked the wrong way

I laughed, in gentle acknowledgement.......
