Jaymie Lanera - A Walk In Someone Else's Shoes

2014-11-07 10

Who are you to tell me “no”,
And who are you to speak for those
Whose minds are resisting your control?
Knowledgeable criticism comes from open minds
and creativity.
It’s not constructive when played by conformity.
Rearranging the picture to what you want to see,
or how you want it to go.
I, unlike you, don’t write for show.
I write the truth,
of how I perceive it to be.
My roaring thunder creates the storm.
I am heard loud and clear in my chaotic form.
Expression does not hold expectation,
that is the missed punctuation –
or maybe it’s just us,
who don’t understand the brake-ridden bus
that continues dangerously
between the black and white lines.
Or maybe it’s just me,
who has the ability
to provoke true emotion
by writing with holes of creativity
leaving it open for interpretation and imagination.
Maybe it’s them.
Them who have experienced the array of colors
of life’s emotional spectrum;
those who don’t beat to the sound of your drum.
I saw you standing at the sea.
Pleased by your thoughts, concrete, you let it be.
“It is a sea, with a shore,
on the coast of Singapore,
where I breathed lifeless detail.
O Ye. T’was 1854”
Well, while you were there, drowning in your simplicity,
I, sir, was diving into the sea,
letting my abstract emotions get the best of me,
introducing the heart to feel beyond what your eye can see.
