This morning
in that Alice in Wonderland state
between waking and sleeping
when anything and everything is possible
my world began to shimmer
as if I had just taken a bite
out of the Caterpillar's mushroom
and in a Mad Hatter vision
I saw hundreds of motorcars
from old black and white movies
drive silently through the highways of my imagination
and even as I marveled
at these ridiculous oversized apparations
I knew they were illusions
that could be transformed
with a flourish of my conjuror's hand
When I awoke
I was left
with an overwhelming feeling
of lightness
and wonder...
