A wish, a wish I make tonite,
Make it fast and make it quick,
Take him into the dear good night,
And spare him the pain, the anguish,
Of this gawd damn disease.
A wish, a wish I make tonite,
Give him back his dignity,
Let him choose how it should go,
Aren’t you imposing your choice over his,
Just give him back his damn control.
A wish, a wish I make tonite,
Make it peaceful as quick as you can,
Close your eyes, go to sleep, relax if you can,
I’m sorry that it’s not as soon as you want,
Let your mind be peaceful until it’s time.
A wish, a wish I make tonite,
A last request that’s against the law,
Why do you dictate how he should go,
How do I tell him I can’t comply,
Isn’t that his gawd damn right.
