Uriah Hamilton - My Wine Glass Is Emptied

2014-11-07 0

I never pursued
Money interest,
Power, or prestige;
I only wanted to hear
Feminine laughter
And touch a woman’s hair
In the summer moonlight.

Responsibility
Was never a suit
That hung well on me.

But in time,
My wine glass
Was emptied
And the summer ended
With increased anxiety.

At some point, everyone chooses
Between the grave
And a life without
Meaningful luster.
