O what is this pain
That brings tears
To our eyes?
You and me,
Both know the truth
Then why do we cry?
Each time
We promise
Not to think of the future,
It invariably comes
And stands
Before the mind’s eye.
Let not this pain
Overpower
And subdue us.
Let it not
Crush
And pursue us.
Let us face it
With the happiness
That we share.
Let us overpower,
Subdue, crush,
And banish this pain
Forever
From the realm
Of our love.
