The hardest lesson of the sinner
Is that all is in you, and nothing in him.
Why are we given these garrulous minds
If the end-challenge is only to submit?
God take away my anguish
By taking away everything.
I cannot save my life,
I cannot save the things I love.
Plant this wisdom into me,
Drill deep and release the bulb
That will bubble out of the ground like iris
After every dry season.
