Herbert Nehrlich - The Cat And The Cadillac

2014-11-07 2

A streetwise cat
a trifle fat
in search for food
and pensive mood
crossed Maple Street
with feline feet.
A Cadillac
went on attack
a giant mag
as if to brag
pinned down the cat
and that was that.
The driver saw
a flattened paw
he quickly cursed
and then reversed
sharp talons still
designed to kill
did penetrate
and thus deflate
the big good year
and one could hear
contented purr
from bloody fur
revenge is sweet
not much to eat
but victory
in misery
cad conceited
but defeated
though the cat
now is flat.
