(This is not a self pity Poem,
it is a that is just the way it is Poem.)
Dear Faith Hill and Tim McGraw,
I saw you on Oprah
Still glowing
After nine years
And three kids.
Love so deep and true
Still making your eyes shine.
Even Oprah
Spoke about it.
Showed the little grocery store
where you eat bologna sandwiches.
The same store
Where I bought
A real mop.
Not a fancy sponge mop
Like the big chain stores carry
But a real mop
Like my Mama
Used to use.
I guess they were
Trying to say
That you were
Real down home folks,
Like I am, like we are.
But us real folks
Miss the brass ring
and find no pot of gold
at the end of the rainbow.
