William Jackson - My Lover's Eyes

2014-11-07 5

My lover’s eyes are never far from my thoughts,
Nor the lingering touch of her delicate hands,
Nor the warm softness of her lips when she kisses me,
Nor the joy I take from holding her in my arms.

Madly, deeply, hopelessly I love her!
And she knows I am a transparent liar,
And she knows I would be lying to myself and to her
If I were to suggest I could ever refuse her anything.

I think this is what caused Samson all the trouble.
He could never say no to Delilah.
Still, he loved her and sought to please her,
Up until the moment the Philistines gouged out his eyes.

What beautiful woman past or present, especially you,
Has not understood the fathomless depths of her power,
Has not influenced a man like me to her advantage,
Has not preordained the birth of kings and the collision of empires?

Ask of me what you will my love, but love me still.
Madly, deeply, hopelessly I love you!
Eyes open or eyes closed, I see only you.
I dream only you. I think only of you.
