Dan Brown - Hurt Heart Healed

2014-11-07 2

A war of love, a war I lost,
The stakes were high, my soul it cost.
Lamed, maimed and ripped apart,
A defenceless casualty, was my heart.

Now though, like a lamb, it is born,
And of it’s fleece of misery it is shorn.
It is granted wings so it may flutter again,
We expected this happening, but didn’t know when.

An Army of Pain marched through the whole of me,
Splitting it into parts of three.
Aching heart, soul and mind,
I see now that love was blind.

A loving hand reached down into Hell,
Stroked the cracks and made all well.
It lifted me high, from Hell to the stars,
From the Devil’s clutches to the moons of Mars.

Chattering machine guns fire rounds of hurt,
Catch me by surprise, push me down in the dirt.
But then I rise up, like a phoenix from flames,
Tired of playing these stricken war games.

My heart bleeds it’s lonely blood,
On Romance‘s battlefield, alone it stood.
Seemed like forever, but the Cavalry came.
In love again, and there is no shame.

Dying slowly, giving up fast.
In love again, but this will last.
Weakened and broken and torn apart,
But here it is, I offer my heart.
