Katy Sanders - If I Had the Answer Would I Still Ask the Question?

What does it mean to be raped?
Forcible entry –
Force of saying no
Force of saying yes to no
A stranger on the bus
The man you say “I love you” too
The brother, the father
The friend
What does it mean to be raped?
No charge, no tale, no proof.
No semen.
Old bruises, faded. Fading.
Rape – to scream, oh to scream.
Inside.
If it is your brother, father, friend
“Man” you love
Only inside
To say – RAPE –
I was raped
The shame – the guilt
Oh the guilt
What does it mean to be raped?
Once – twice – for a year?
The sisters…all their life.
How long?
How long can it last?
The anger, the lies.
Shame.
What does it mean to be raped?
To be fucked when you say no.
To be torn inside.
Screaming NO – HE –
Whispers I love you.
Carving Initials
Skin is crying
Tears are blood
What does it mean to be raped?
No proof – no rape?
No words for years
To say…rape.
Guilt
Anger
Violated
HATRED
What does it mean to be raped?
