Minds ignited by several days
Of sleeplessness and amphetamines
Create dark myths
And then slide into nightmares and dreams
Where reality vanishes like a magician’s trick
In the haze of stage fog and colored lights:
Some slink into coffins
That drive like automobiles
Down a street of ruthless vultures,
Some rise from the dead
And smoke cigars with skeptical atheists,
Some laugh hysterically drunk
With hymn-singing nuns,
Life becomes a Japanese cartoon.
