All the way from Alabama
No banjo on my knee,
Always just a plea and a prayer,
Please just let me be.
I’ve been through lots of pain and hate
Seen every single kind
Had friends and family shut me out
And leave their love behind.
But I know God, he loves me so;
And helps me every day.
So I forgive them all, for all the pain,
And for whatever’s to come, what may.
It’s a lonely life yet lots of love,
And my tapestry is filled
With many that the world doth hate
With them I am fulfilled.
So don’t cry for me, Alabama,
I escaped and I am free.
I have finally reached this happy place,
And the world has let me be.
