Sometimes fact really is stranger than fiction...
A cameraman for an Australian TV network was on his way to cover a domestic attack incident, when a man flagged him down on the side of the road.
The man, it turns out, was the suspect involved in the attack.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) GUNMAN, IDENTIFIED BY AUSTRALIAN MEDIA AS JORDY BROOKS SAYING:
"I just hope that she's all right, I think she's dead."
After a sometimes tearful conversation with the cameraman, the suspect then jumped into the news vehicle, pointed a gun at the cameraman, then sped off.... all while the cameraman was rolling.
(SOUNDBITE) (English) CHANNEL SEVEN CAMERAMAN, PETER STEER SAYING:
"I wanted to get that shot of him with the gun but I didn't want to get shot, you know."
Eventually, the suspect crashed the car and ran barefooted through a gas station where he was apprehended by police.
