PESHAWAR: A prisoner in a Multan jail on Friday climbed atop a jail building and threatened to commit suicide if he was not allowed to meet his girlfriend, incarcerated in the adjoining women prison, ARY News reported.
The inmate, identified as Ghulam Muhammad, scaled the 150-feet high building and sat on a water tanker, issuing threat calls to jump to the ground if his girlfriend was not produced before him.
He said his paramour was imprisoned in the women jail and he wanted to meet her. The jail administration described the prisoner as mentally unstable and said he had done such ‘insane acts’ too in the past.
The administration announced via loudspeakers that he should come down, with an assurance that his demand would be met.
The prisoner hailed from Balochistan.
