AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd has been charged in New Zealand with plotting to have two men murdered.
AC/DC is among the most legendary of rock groups, but one band member is in the spotlight for something other than his musical talents.
Drummer Phil Rudd has been charged in New Zealand with plotting to have two men murdered.
Neither the names of the targets nor of the hitman Rudd allegedly tried to procure have been made available, per the orders of the judge presiding over the case.
It was also declared that the drummer can have no contact with any person believed to be involved in the plot he’s accused of setting in motion.
Rudd did not enter a plea and is now out on bail.
He’s expected back in court on November 27th.
In addition to the murder for hire charge, which carries a sentence of up to 10 years, he’s facing others.
Those are making threats to kill and drug possession, with methamphetamines and cannabis being the specific illicit substances involved.
According to Rolling Stone, the latter charges came about following a police raid on Rudd’s home.
AC/DC is expected to be embarking upon another tour soon, and at this time it’s unclear if their drummer will be able to join them.
