Blondie co-founder, guitarist and occasional photographer Chris Stein thinks the popularity of selfies takes away some of the power that traditional photography often carries.
Speaking to Reuters during a preview of his new exhibition, "Chris Stein/Negative: Me, Blondie and the Advent of Punk", Stein mused about the latest photographic trend.
"Really the thing with the selfies is, they are all so similar, I find they lose impact, you know. I see ten thousand pictures of a girl standing in the bathroom. They all become so similar that it's people should take it a little bit further and whatever, stand on their head or something."
Fellow band member, lead singer Deborah Harry, added that selfies can be viewed as a new form of aesthetic, which to some people still reveals beauty.
