Richard Sockett - Bless This House

2014-11-04 20

Built of brick standing tall and strong
Lovingly tended garden in which birds sing their evening song
Each tile on the roof keeps out the weather
Stretched out in the room, lounging on a sofa made of leather
Sliding down the banister is a childhood favorite game

Toasty warm by the fire and its living flame
Home is where the heart is and my heart belongs to you
In my bed I stay put when recovering from flu
Semi, terraced or bungalow, each house has a tale to tell

Hunting round for somewhere new, when it comes to sell
Outstanding architecture or just a shack we all need a place to live
Unfortunately that's not the case for the beggar in the street, so let's be kind and give
Shine a light in your window and put out the welcome mat
Everybody needs good neighbours so pop round for a chat
