India: Symbolic kissing protest to highlight 'moral harassment'

2014-11-04 7

Campaigners against “moral policing” in India held a special demonstration on Sunday (November 2).

They took part in a symbolic public kissing protest, to highlight alleged harassment by hardline Hindu groups.

Dozens of young people, mobilised through social media, gathered in Kochi, in the southern state of Kerala.

Public displays of affection and dating largely remain a taboo in conservative India and are considered against its culture.
