Dr John Celes - Sonnet: God is Most Fair and Just

2014-11-03 1

The tree that grew from seed I sowed with care,
And watered well, and loosened soil near roots,
Threw leaves and flowers, remaining only bare,
As pests prevented it bringing forth fruits.

The tree that grew from seed bird-dropped in wild
Became a mammoth one, with leaves and flowers,
Afilled with fruits aplenty for each child,
Nurtured by sun and rain that fell like showers.

The pampered child of affluence is ill;
Money can't better health or buy wisdom;
The orphaned child is healthier, brainy still,
With beauty human eyes have seen seldom.

God sees the heart and not the feigning frame,
And takes the weaker side in any game!
