I took a ribbon from your hair
tied it to the gunwale
Licked the curving edges
of your salty breasts
and we set sail…

The birds above
they sang for us
as the world washed below the boat
I saw the faces of ex-lovers there
in that quickly sinking sea
never to return again

The clouds were thin
the sky was pink
and the water was a mirror
I saw nothing then
but space
but moon
but you

Land ahoy
land ahead
the reflecting sea
burns itself into my memory
this calm and quiet moment
before what's next
before some great change
before forever...
