Lora Colon - Deceived

2014-10-29 9

The morning's dew moistens my eyes,
No, these are not tears you see,
(A woman must learn to pretend
When failed love turns reality)

A lonely wanderer, I strayed
From the land of tears and pain,
Looking to quench my thirst for love
I walked into a burning rain

When love took me down darkened paths,
I foolishly closed my eyes,
Blinding myself to simple truths,
Yet seeing truth in all the lies

Ignoring voices in the wind,
Eagerly, I took a chance,
Forging ahead toward love's deceit,
With not even one backward glance

Now the moon says the day must end,
I ponder sad memories....
Cunning imitators of love
Invade my heart like refugees

A cold wind blew across my heart,
And silenced the angels' choir,
I've closed my tear-stained Book of Love
And tossed it into the blazing fire
