Try not to blame yourself, love,
Your performance was strong,
The play was a failure....
It was written all wrong
You remembered all your lines,
You were good in your part,
Rehearsal was brutal,
Not for the faint of heart
A story with no ending,
Two singers with no song,
Our lives have no meaning,
It was written all wrong
I know you prayed for guidance,
We know our faith was strong,
But we're not to blame, love,
The Author got it wrong
We should have loved each other,
What a sad circumstance,
Could we trust the Writer
To give a second chance?
It seems the longer we wait
All the harder it gets
To correct the failures,
To forget our regrets
We must put down this damn script,
These lines are all so wrong,
Let's listen to our hearts,
We know where we belong
Ah, too late for corrections,
Try to conceal that frown,
Take a bow, here's your flower,
The curtain's coming down!
