Geoffrey Fafard - The Portuguese Kiss

2014-10-29 7

Last night I dreamt that I stole a kiss
From the portuguese lady across the street
A lingering moonlit kiss it was
Sweet with the glow of village serenity
And innocent giving compassion
A kiss so pure that I could survive
On its memory alone
I awoke and smiled you know
That knowing smile
And walked straight into the garden
And onto the little road
It was then that she came at me
In her car full speed
From higher up the road
On a fateful mission
Of catastrophe
And mayhem
Her eyes full of mistrust and anger
I leapt to bare survival
And tumbled down the road
I guess she knows her God
Better than I do mine.
