When your dark shadows haunt and loom
My wits turn sound of Life's great fertility;
When your python-embrace turns me to doom
I torch my day's unpartable magnanimity;
Things that are beyond the notice of my eyes
Crawl through my mind with a touch of royalty,
Scents whose wings do not awaken my sighs
Are then imbibed with uttermost loyalty;
In your bleaching fire as shall my husks break
In your smiting fancy thus my sanity melts,
A curse teaches us boon, my sinews wake
To sinew in all when your fangs sting my belts
Like a dream bites blood; as you heighten my birth
Let it build, as you do, my Death, you some worth.
