Aniruddha Pathak - My Saddest Day’s Saddest Hour

2014-10-29 14

The saddest day’s saddest hour
My happy heart had e’er known,
The low tide me to e’er stir,
I do feel has long since gone.

Tide said I? Yea, in my heart,
They come to stir for a while
And no sooner come, depart,
Oft with a mischievous smile!

Happy hearts hopeful life lead
With room for sadness nor wrong,
Like tides they come to recede,
To leave behind happy song.

The saddest day’s saddest hour
My happy eyes had e’er seen
Furnished a fleeting picture
And vague to vanish within.

Of saddest day’s saddest hour,
My ears had ever heard,
Could no lasting impress stir,
And in time has now gone blurred.

And what of mind’s memories?
Made oblivious death to die,
They met the same fate, none high—
To fly off with my worries.

Well done my heart, done me proud,
None need a gloom inherit,
None need his mental space crowd,
So be happy my spirit.
