And there were horses on
That day,
And the winds were blowing
The birds at play;
There was nothing we
Could say.
The houses stood forlorn,
And the children seemed
To pray.
There were those that
Would wander,
Those that would stay,
And some would walk in
A heavy way.
That led to thinking,
Of what we may
Or may not do,
And the many paths
Where they lay.
Then those horses began to neigh.
And we saw on
That windswept way,
Of a river flowing
Towards a bay,
Like a falcon's eye,
Observed the fray,
And felt time sweep
Through us,
Not fear delay
