Michael Bassey Johnson - Loose Lustres Of Pulchritude

2014-10-29 6

Beauty in the heavens,
Beauty in the seas,
beauty in the sky,
beauty in the wind,
beauty in the creatures
beauty in you and i.
And this, a daydream,
for all these shall fade away in time,
and the tranquil wind shall bring forth fiery storm,
the heavens shall sink and fall,
the creatures shall grow and die,
the sky shall turn black like coal,
the wild shall emerge from the seas,
and you and i shall be hag, with wrinkles and malady,
for no drugs shall revive our bones,
and our eyes shall be filled with lumps like stones,
our breath will come to an end,
the smell of funeral, siren, coffin, tears,
tiling the loamy earth,
and down, our successors shall let us in,
into where the termites live,
our flesh shall be devoured as food,
our humanity is gone,
where is then, the beauty again?
Which we so much cherised like an egg?
