I would wish to be married to God,
‘Cause in God’s kingdom I will have no woman’s title
And will owe Adam no subservient status,
I would, in fact be Jesus’ Mother, who is revered in heaven and earth,
My children would be precious things in heaven and earth,
I would be called Mother instead of ‘that woman, ’
Yes, I will be that woman with no connotations of subservience,
Not that woman who can be anything, called girlfriend, concubine, mistress, whore…..,
All those names that put a woman in the degradation kraal,
All those names that imply women deserve less of what is there and what they can get,
All those names that mean women are cursed and deserve less respect,
All those names that mean women hurt less but easily,
All those names that mean women have less status in society than men,
All those names that mean women live in the sanctity of the home,
While men venture out into the perilous jungle,
All those names that belittle God’s creation!
If I were a woman,
I would wish to be married to God,
‘Cause in God’s kingdom, I will be loved for what I can give, create and do,
Not for what hurt I can endure,
Not for my femininity,
My looks, tender skin and vagina,
Not for what kraal is made for me,
That I can do one thing not two or anything beyond the so-called femininity,
If I were a woman, I would wish to be married to God,
‘Cause in God’s kingdom I will be loved for what I can give, create and do,
