indira babbellapati - moving amidst spoils of time

2014-10-29 0

we moved…

in feigned elegance
in crude curiosity
in clumsy motion
in surprised stride
from one ruin to another
lying pathetically
in the shade of ancient trees
chopped noses
clipped lips
half severed breasts
a cut across the stomach
a wound on the thigh
part of genitals hanging loose
all left to weather to wither

we cried
we laughed
and walked
sometimes in stunned silence
sometimes in solemn stillness

the rocks in ruins remained
majestic and heroic
in stoic silence

we moved…
