After supper with his disciples
Jesus went out alone to pray
And in the garden spoke to his Father
The Lord God Almighty.
In deep anguish he prayed
And sweat on his brow was blood
For he knew torture and death awaited him
When Judas betrayed him with a kiss.
He did not ask his Father
For an army of angles to save him
But for the strength to give himself
As the sacrificial lamb for the sins of Man.
