The Cheviot Hills
echo their battle cry.
Seventeenth century
discontent ~ this is
the reason why.
England and Scotland
in times of yore settled
problems with civil war.
The printed word now
tells the story of
'Oliver Cromwell'
and civil war glory.
Edgehill, Naseby and
old Marston Moor
were all scenes of battle
on Britain's green shore.
A new model army,
and Cromwell fought on
with powerful methods;
his armour plate shone!
He - and his Charger
sped across barren land
as the north Cheviot hills
will forever understand.
