Uriah Hamilton - When She Walks Away

2014-10-29 13

The spoken word
Will often easily offend;
The active tongue
Can wound a friend;
An accident of speech
Can cause a terrible breach
Against once tender acquaintances.

When she walks away
With her memories of me
Moving like ghosts in her mind,
Will she think of me
As someone supportive and kind?
Or was there something I said
That I’ve forgotten
That injured her self-esteem?

To write the word love in the sand
On a rainbow summery day
Beside the spot where she stands
And have these emotions never washed away
By the tides of time and chance!

How will I express today
Her immense worth to my existence?
