chris ortiz - Dancing with flowers; waiting for trees

2014-10-28 2

I'm alone at my own dance
flowers surround me
yet my roots remain
grounded
for their petals appeal not to me
and im stuck like anchors in
desolate beaches
not allowed to sort
and float through the breeze with them

Once the dance ends
I will be able to
extend
up into the sky
protected and in common
with my rooted counterparts
those who themselves
have faced and survived
gusts that blow them lonely

I'm confident in the abilities
of the flowers
and am assured in the fact
that they'll create sensational
fields
for they are resiliant
and wherever they may solidify
they will bloom incandescently

Yet their fields
hold no place
for my required forestry
and while those flowers
will move in harmony
I'm an immobile tree
and with my fellow trees
i shall grow

But for now
I'm alone sinking further
and further
while the flowers
rise higher
and become less implanted
as they prepare to
drift
and i prepare to
branch
