Marilyn Lott - Driving Across Country

2014-10-28 2

As you drive across our country
So many things you can see
That set your heart racing
Touching your feelings tenderly

Old filling stations abandoned
Their use no longer there
But the memories for someone
Will always bring a tear

Gentle homesteads once held
A family with several children
The bible waiting to read
After all the chores they’d tend

But time marched on, of course
New fancy service stations
To fill modern vehicles
Oh, such wonderful creations

And now you’ll see something
In the clear bright blue skies
White streaks called vapor trails
Always a mystery to our eyes

The modern airplane too we know
Is always exciting for us to see
All this I enjoy as I continue
To drive across our amazing country!
