Francis Duggan - The Brolgas Are Dancing

2014-10-28 6

On the roadside paddock where the short grass is brown
The brolgas are dancing near old Penshurst Town
They dance in the sunshine of a Summer's day
The beautiful brolgas red heads and light gray
The cranes of Australia so graceful and tall
A poem on them by the poet John Shaw Neilson i can readily recall
The native companions or brolgas he loved and did know
Danced by his old home many decades ago,
The brolgas are dancing a beautiful sight
In the roadside paddock in the evening sunlight
And as they are dancing one can hear them sing
A wonder of Nature and a beautiful thing
For one to behold and a memory to retain
And a memory to visit again and again.
