Marilyn Lott - Broken Windmill

2014-10-28 0

I saw a broken windmill
It is so sad, you know, to see
It did its job all its life
Now it crumbles painfully

The wind no longer whirls
Amongst its broken blades
The beauty is now lost somehow
The charm too seems to fade

As I look across the open field
The cattle grazing the day away
I see the broken windmill
Trying desperately to sway

Its pieces so pathetically
Hang and droop and bang
The wind seems to avoid it where
A sweet melody once sang

How sad it is, don’t you think?
Perhaps the farmer one day
Will repair it and make it whole
Of he might possibly take it away!
