Marilyn Lott - Small Country Church

2014-10-28 5

Did you ever have a time in your life
When you just couldn’t get it together?
Perhaps you’re headed pretty straight
Then things changed just like the weather

The folks you thought you could trust
Just seem to turn against you
Confused and a little resentful
No one in your life seems to be true

This is how I felt one morning
As I was driving without any direction
I stopped at a small country church
It was not any particular selection

Stepping through the worn creaky door
I noticed the pews were worn too
It was silent almost eerie inside
I think you would have felt it too

I sat my sad weary bones down
In the back of this little church
Looking up at a statue of Jesus
It was as though he had seen me first

As I sat there you would not believe
The peace that seeped under my skin
Right to the very heart of me
I felt like a person without sin

This little ole’ country town
With a small little church within
That day vanished my feeling of anger
And I became at peace once again!
